Stamped plaster work. Initial trials of stamping lime plaster with wooden blocks using an innovative plaster recipe. The plaster can be used as an ultra fine lime finishing plaster which can be applied 3-4mm thick and simply trowelled smooth but which can also be imprinted with quite detailed patterns.
the block used here is 3.5 inches square.

Are there any release agents or anything required for the blocks?
thanks for your question. Honest answer – I did that stamping years ago and didn’t take it much further. The blocks were really for printing textiles. The plaster I was using was very similar to Japanese Shikkui plaster – lime, no aggregate , plenty of fibres. I waited until the 4mm thick plaster had formed a sort of crust like the rind on brie cheese, then I pressed the block into it. I found that if the timing was right the plaster did not stick to the block, you might try talcum powder though, sprinkle a bit on the block, I guess keep the block dry too. Honestly I just play, – experiment and if it doesn’t work adjust or try something else.
